In honor of MLK Jr.
My kid in first grade learns in school that we honor MLK Jr. because he wanted all the races to get along. Their words, not mine. At this age, I find that most first-graders are genuinely puzzled about why people have such a hard time with this. Such precious innocence.
I want to honor MLK Jr. by linking to the text of his speech, Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break the Silence, I heard the other day on our local alternative news station. Substitute Iraq for the obvious, and it really hits home. As Bob Herbert asks: Where are today's voices of moral outrage?
Many thanks to Andy at mousemusings for the links. He's put up an audio link as well.
