Wal-Mart's crimes to humanity

The definitive post to inspire you is over at the Street by eRobin. Go eRobin!

As part of Wal-Mart Truthsquad Days, I'll just mention that Wal-Mart must view public education as part of the public services axis of evil to be destroyed at all costs.

Kidding? No. This BC piece says it well:
The family’s immediate personal ambitions are more modest: to destroy public education in the United States. To that end the Walton’s, through their Walton Family Foundation and in close collaboration with Milwaukee’s Bradley Foundation, literally invented the national school “choice” network and its wedge issue-weapon, vouchers.

It is the existence of the school vouchers “movement” that allows the Bush Administration to savage and massively disrupt the nation’s public schools while positing “alternative” forms of education, both vouchers and charter schools that often operate very much like public-funded private schools. “Choice” has become national policy under Bush’s Department of Education, which has doled out more than $75 million to organizations birthed by the Waltons, Bradley and their allies. (See “Funding a Movement,” People for the American Way.)
You could call Wal-Mart as Ground Zero for the voucher movement.

BC points out that Wal-Mart is serious about this: they've got $20 billion invested in this battle front.

Here's one more reason to boycott Wal-Mart, not just today but for the rest of your life. I'm lucky that the closest Wal-Mart is too far away for me to even think about going.

Boycott Wal-Mart. Your grandchildren and your great-grandchildren will thank you.
