Very nice but...

Does anyone else out there think this and this distracts from the most heinous provisions of NCLB?

Certainly these new changes to NCLB will make the rural states happier in this election year.
The changes in the 2002 federal education law, announced yesterday, will give teachers in rural schools more time to prove that they are proficient in those subjects and will streamline the process for other teachers to gain the necessary qualifications.
I wonder if three years is a reasonable enough time, especially for a teacher who teaches multiple subjects. On the other hand, private and charter school teachers don't have to meet these standards. Funny how it all works. No standards for private schools but punishing ones for public schools.
