PTA Lobbyist, Todd Haiken, is from the Princeton Review

Wonders never cease. Here's a new one.

National PTA, despite having a progressive stance on testing in its mission statement, has been a pretty solid supporter of NCLB.

Why? Hell, I don't know.

It doesn't make sense to me at the grassroots level. NCLB will contribute to accelerating the declining PTA influence. PTA'll not only have to deal with the chaos accompanying dismantling entire schools, they'll have fewer members and less influence.

Obviously, the view from DC is quite different because it turns out that the PTA lobbyist on the Hill, Todd Haiken, used to be the director of research at Princeton Review, one of those testing prep companies making tons upon tons of money off NCLB.

Write National PTA and ask them why they employ a lobbyist who comes directly from the testing companies. Wouldn't there be a conflict of interest? What if NCLB isn't so hot for kids across the nation?
