Perils of obediance

Abu Ghraib can only be a metaphor for what is going on in our country politically. Profound lack of responsibility for our actions. Minions only concerned about pleasing the leadership. Obedience at all cost. Sense of separation from consequences.

We certainly haven't learned from Stanley Milgram's depressing experients on responsibility, which he summarizes in this essay, The Perils of Obedience.
The person who assumes responsibility has evaporated. Perhaps this is the most common characteristic of socially organized evil in modern society.
